I have decided to do the Heinz Tomato Ketchup breif. This is because i like the amount of flexability which the breif allows and the large range for the target audience (18-30 year olds). Ketchup is also easily researched and can be purchased anywhere.

I have decided that my intro sequences will be a simple animation form; this should give me more time to do more of them and to spend on my game. An example of what I intend on doing can be found in the game Red Steel (for the wii), as the animation sequences are simple yet still portray what is going on and I still think they look quite good, like a moving comic book.

This is an animation from the mighty boosh series 2. I think this sort of style may suet the look for my game; this is because it’s a comedy story and its not in least bit supposed to be realistic but just crazy. The bright colours (to me) add to the comedy value of the story and make it more extreme.

The story which I decided on (the micro planet) is really inspired by the mighty boosh series that is always completely mad, in terms of story for example the first story in the series involves a man fighting a kangaroo in order to try and impress a woman.

Looking at isolation and games brings to mind the silent hill 4 game (the room) as the character (Henry) is stuck in this room and he cant get out but this is not just physical it’s a psychological isolation because he’s not sure if he is in a dream or not and he cant get out of the dream. So this is not an isolation of space as he goes many places but more an isolation of the mind dreaming in a room.
The atmosphere is made up with rust and blood to give extra atmosphere to the dark environment, as soon as you play it you get that creepy feeling with the game.

Blade runner (1997) is one of my personal favourite point and click adventures, I feel this is because it’s nice and simple and there are a suitable number of different endings and not to many like in knights of the old republic.
The atmosphere at the time was also amazing and just like the film.

Possible Island Ideas



1- A manufactured island like an oilrig but much more fancy as it actually looks like a small island. Resident evil for the background story.
2- Trapped in the world of an old Snes game where their is only the start and the finish and the character can go no further in the game.
3- The main character has gone to his work in a local supermarket (Morrison’s) but this is day is different to all the others as it becomes timeless and time will not let him leave. Kind of like Groundhog Day.
4- A tiny planet, which you can walk around in sixty seconds. The main character has crash-landed on this planet and needs to get his ship working again.
5- The Detective must uncover the cause and the perpetrator of the horrible murder which as taken place in a small room. Similar to the old blade runner game.
6- The world has been totally flooded due to global warming but one business man has survived by living on the roof of his very tall office block building,.



Development of Favourite ideas


1- Back-story
This manufactured island is the final and original base of the
Pharmaceutical company Umbrella.
After the outbreak of the T-Virus in Raccoon city Umbrella admitted to creating the T-Virus but blamed the S.T.A.R.S. team for its release and since they had no evidence as the research mansion was destroyed as well as the whole of raccoon city they could not prove their innocence.
Umbrella is supposable out of business but they still have this island, which no one knows of, as it’s not on the map, they continue to research the effects of the T-virus here.
Someone has contacted S.T.A.R.S from the island and asked for their help as the island is in danger.

The Game
This could be a simple point and click adventure where the main character has to find something within the Island; in this case the T-Virus sample and then get off the island without being eaten.



2- Back-story
(This story is inspired by the Mighty Boosh series)
Planet Back-story
This tiny planet has only four inhabitancies the man who works in the engines shop hut, the grumpy crab, The fish who lives under the ice and an evil polar bear who rules over the planet. The planet once belonged to the man who works in the engines shop hut who bought the planet on e-bay for £60 but then the evil polar bear came and by sheer coincidence confined the man who works in the engines shop hut to an engines shop hut where he can now only sell engines. The hut was sealed with three locks, which can only be unlocked by the three coconuts.
As the evil polar bear prefers the cold he broke the planets rotational control stick so one side never sees the sun only the small moon which came free with the planet and so that side of the planet is cold and covered in snow where the evil polar bear roams wild.

Main Character Back-story
The man is a thief on the run he has stolen the last Nintendo wii available on earth, his mother ship was destroyed by angry gamers and his one man escape pod crash landed on the tiny planet

The Game
The Man crash lands on the tiny planet his pod is badly damaged and he needs a new engine he goes over to the engine hut but the man who works in the engine shop hut cannot give The Man the engine he wants because its behind the man who works in the engines shop hut and he cannot turn around. The Man must free the man who works in the engine shop hut but to do that he needs to get the three coconuts.

Simple point and click game with challenges such as a dance off with the grumpy crab e.g. you have to imitate its moves. Also you have to catch the fish under the ice and persuade the Angry polar bear to give you the last coconut, this could have alternative options which lead to good or bad results.
